75% scale replica of the Prototype Spitfire K5054 in the original prototype colour. First flight 9th of November 2017.This aircraft is a joy to fly. Cruises at 130kts at 22 lph premium 98. (Or econ at 123kts at 20 lph) 4 to 4.5 hours endurance. Plenty of cargo space forward and rear. Airmaster prop and electric constant speed unit. Level auto pilot for long cross countries. Retractable undercarriage. Hacman mixture control. Edge Performance crossover tube gives smooth running at very low rpm. Aircraft Automation electric trim (elevator and aileron) Extra large cranking battery so never any kickback. 20kt max demonstrated cross wind for take off and landing. Sea level nil wind take off and landing roll on paved- 200-250 mtrs. POH available on request.. This is 50% kit and 50% custom built to keep as per the prototype Spitfire. Also the emergency gear extension is more simple and reliable than the kit version. Elevators and ailerons are pushrod actuated providing very direct response.The prop and engine times are less than the airframe as they were installed/upgraded after the aircraft was already flying. Easy to fly and ground handling easier than most tail wheel aircraft thanks in part to a steerable tailwheel. Turns heads wherever I go. Hours will change as aircraft is regularly flown.Gear doors have been upgraded but are not yet painted. Bubble type canopy has been installed giving an extra 60mm of headroom. Would recommend pilot is not over 5' 10" otherwise may be a tight squeeze if flying with canopy closed. Aircraft currently insured for 130K |
