SUD GY80 "Horizon", asking Aus$54,000 . My hangar is a little too crowded with my second, recently arrived experimental aircraft. The Horizon: VH-YOG Serial number 71 Built in France 1964, by SUD (South) Aviation (builders of Caravelle jet airliners, etc).. The Horizon is classified as an "orphan" as it is no-longer supported by SUD (now known as "Airbus Aerospace" etc). The Horizon precedes the Socata Trinidad, Tobago, Tampico and ST10 Diplomate. Twelve GY80 were operated by the Cambodian Air Force. Lycoming O-320-B2C, 160 hp engine, 2689 hrs on tacho. "on condition" ... inhibited with Camguard. De-inhibiting only requires addition of 1 quart of normal oil. Sensenich fixed pitch prop. Leather seats. Good paint. 2 front doors, seating 4 adults..... rear baggage compartment holds 30kg. 3-point harnesses for front seats. 160 litres avgas in wing tanks, with option for installing a 40 ltr auxiliary tank. 500 nautical miles @ 120 knots. Outperforms Piper Cherokee and Arrow (so I am told). All aluminium construction, corrosion proofed when built. Semi-retractable undercarriage, joined to fowler flaps. (flaps & landing gear operate together). Indicator lights and dual horn "gear up" warning system. Frise ailerons, stabilator, trailing link oleo suspension. Roomy cabin has a welded chrome-moly steel frame for safety (like the Mooney). Empty weight: 600kg, MTOW 1050 Kg , VSO: 47kts. Range @ 75% cruise: 6 Hrs. Will carry: 4 adults, full fuel, and 30kg baggage. Rear bench seat is easily removable. This Horizon was flown from New Zealand to Perth in 1999. No outstanding AD's that I am aware of. New Garmin GTX335 transponder with ADS-B "out", installed 2023 by avionics LAME, and approved with Engineering Order. Pitot static checks done 22 May 2023. Analogue gauges. JPS fuel flow monitor. Electric fuel boost pump. Strobe, wingtip lamps, & landing light. iCOM A200 VHF and 4-place intercom. GY80 owners association (APAG) based in France, for technical advice and parts. Annual inspection overdue. I will cover the cost of a new annual. A set of new oil and fuel hoses provided. All (English) manuals included...Illustrated Parts Catalogue, maintenance manuals, pilot's operating manual. Always hangared.
